  • www.nrha.org - The National Retail Hardware Association site has industry news and events, links to manufacturers and retailers, and an online How To series that can be incorporated on retailer's sites.
  • www.homechannelnews.com - The Home Channel News site gets updated daily with retailing news, as well as providing financial statistics from the hardware and homecenter industry.
  • Ace Focus - Mailing list for Ace dealers as well as some additional online resource links.
  • Worldwide DIY Council - Association of American and Canadian manufacturers

Business Tools: Online reference sites for a variety of business inquiries

  • www.usps.gov - United States Post Office, where you can check postal rates, lookup zip codes, print mailing labels, and order free supplies.
  • www.ups.com - United Parcel Service - Track packages, order supplies, print labels, check rates, etc.

The Internet & World Wide Web:

www.w3.org - The World Wide Web Consortium site has information about the history of the web, HTML tutorials, new technologies, and lots of links to web related sites.
Network Solutions - Network Solutions, one of the folks who maintain the list of Internet commercial domain names. Research and register a domain name for your company at this site.

Search The Web:

  • www.google.com - This is my current favorite search engine...no categories, but fast and accurate.
  • www.yahoo.com - Yahoo breaks down search results by category, which makes finding what you want a lot easier. Plus, great online resources like maps and the White Pages.
  • www.build.com - Search site specifically focused on the building and hardware industry, if you don't mind wading through banner ads on every page. A great place to search for manufacturer web pages.

Reference Tools:

  • www.itools.com - A great site with online data for zip codes, language translation, currency conversion, stock quotes, biographies, and more.
  • www.loc.gov - They're the government, and they're online to help you. The Library of Congress web site provides a search tool for pending legislation, plus links to many other US Government web sites.
